It is likely that the Office of Fair Trading (OFT) vs Foxton's Estate Agents legal case will be heard in the High Court in July. The OFT is keen to obtain a ruling against certain aspects of Foxton's contracts with landlord where they charge high fees for matters such as tenancy renewals and property sale commissions.

If successful it is likely that the OFT will want to abolish these excessive charging practices across the entire letting agency industry. Many landlords are already refusing to pay letting agents renewal fees and are awaiting the outcome of this important case with keen interest.
