The way in which Housing Benefit payments will be paid is due to change from April 7th of this year. All new Housing Benefit recipients will have their Housing Benefit payments made directly to the individual as oppose to residential landlords.

The change in legislation that will shortly come into effect is predicted to cause rent collection problems for many landlords who anticipate major rent arrears increases from tenants in receipt of benefit.
